| Day 1:
Huaraz - Musho - Base Camp |
(-/L/D) |
We leave the town of Huaraz and drive through the "Callejón de Huaylas" until we reach the village of Musho (3030 m), where we meet our staff. We pack our equipment on the horses and hike towards our base camp (4200 m). |
| Day 2: Base Camp - High Camp 1 |
(B/L/D) |
From our base camp we start to climb the Huascarán Mountain. We hike over rocky surface until we reach the glacier. From here on we will use our climbing equipment to continue to our first high camp at 5500 m. |
| Day 3: High Camp 1 - High Camp 2 |
(B/L/D) |
The route today is steeper and leads us to an 25 m high ice passage which we have to conquer to reach our high camp 2 at 6000 m right between the north (6654 m) and south peak (6768 m) of the Huascarán Mountain. |
| Day 4: High Camp 2 - Summit - High Camp 2 |
(B/L/D) |
Today we have to climb an approx. 700 m altitude difference to reach the summit in about 7 to 8 hours. We have to get up very early and ascent through easy terrain. The ascent is slowly and very exhausting but the reward at the end will be great. We reach the roof of the Andes, the summit of “El Huascarán” (6768 m). The way back to the high camp 2 will be easier. |
| Day 5: High Camp 2 - Base Camp |
(B/L/D) |
From the high camp 2 we descent the same way we climbed to the high camp 1 and finally to our base camp. |
| Day 6: Base Camp - Musho - Huaraz |
(B/L/-) |
We hike down to the village of Musho and drive back to Huaraz. |
