Today we pick you up from your hotel and start our journey by bus to Abra de Málaga, which is located about 150 km from Cusco. Here we start our unique downhill ride by bike that can only be compared with the one of "Coroico" in Bolivia. We start in an altitude of 4300 m / 14100 ft and reach a altitude of only 1430 m / 4700 ft when we arrive in Santa Maria. On the way pass rustic villages, fruit plantation as well as waterfalls and arqueological sites. We also experience a great change in the surrounding vegetation as we descend from the highlands to the jungle. After abour 4 hours biking we reach Santa Maria, where we have dinner and spend the night in a lodge with basic services. |

| Day 2: Santa Maria - Santa Teresa |
(B/L/D) |

We get up early today and have a good healthy breakfast to start our trekking adventure. We walk on ancient Inca trails surrounded by the impressing vegetation of the cloud forest, where we can observe various wild animals of the region as well as fruit & medicine plants like the sacred plant of the Incas: Coca. In the afternoon we get to the hot springs near Santa Teresa, where we can enjoy the hot water and get a little rest. In Santa Teresa we'll have dinner and spend the night. |
| Day 3: Santa Teresa - Aguas Calientes |
(B/L/D) |
After breakfast we continue our trek. Today we'll pass many cascades and we cross the Vilcanota River on a rope bridge. At a hydroelectric power station we have lunch and have some free time before we continue to Aguas Calientes, at the foot of Machu Picchu. In Aguas Calientes we'll have dinner and spend the night in a nice hostel.

| Day 4: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco |
(B/L/-) |
We get up early to have enough time to climb up the steep path to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary (1.5 hour hike) to watch the sunrise in the impressing surroundings. Then we will have our guided tour (approx. 2 hours) in the "lost city of the Incas" in which you will visit the most important and interesting places of Machu Picchu. After that you will have free time to explore the complex on your own to take pictures or climb up to the summit of Wayna Picchu. At the agreed time we walk down to Aguas Calientes to be on time to catch the train to Ollantaytambo, from where we take a bus back to Cusco. Here we will take you to your hotel. |
