| Day 1: Cusco - Mollepata - Soraypampa |

In Cusco we pick you up very early from yout hotel and start our journey in bus to Mollepata, arriving at approx. 9am. Here we have breakfast and arrange our equipment on the horses that will come along with us. Now we're ready to start our trek. We walk for about 3 hours before we have lunch. In the afternoon we continue our trek and can see snow capped mountains as well as the typical Andean flora and fauna. On our first campsite in Soraypampa (3400 m / 11200 ft) we drink some hot tea and have dinner. |

| Day 2: Soraypampa - Challway |

After having a good breakfast and we leave our campsite at about 6:30am. We have to climb up for four hours to the first pass of Salkantay Mountain, which is over 4700m / 15400ft high. This pass is also the highest point of our tour. We take a brief break here to take some pictures, because from here we will have a great view of mountain range. After that we will descent the mountain for 4 hours through a nice trail to Challway (2900 m / 9500 ft). Here we will have dinner and rest after the exhausting day. |

| Day 3: Challway - Santa Teresa |

We get up early and have breakfast before we leave Challway. In this part of the trek we experience an impressing change of the surrounding vegetation. Walking on a narrow trail on the mountainside we cross some species of orchids and different kinds of plants. We pass corn- and fruit fields and we have the opportunity to see the most beautiful waterfall on the trail. After the 5 hour hike we will finally get to La Playa. In this small village we take a local truck to drive the 45 minutes to Santa Teresa. Here in an altitude of 1900 m / 5900 ft we set up our tents and have the afternoon to enjoy the hot springs near our campsite. |

| Day 4: Santa Teresa - Aguas Calientes |

We get up at around 7:00 in the morning and after breakfast we start walking for around 2 hours to get to the Urubamba River where we will cross the river. From here we hike 2 more hours to a hydroelectric power station which is also a small village. We have lunch and have some free time until the local train arrives that takes us to Aguas Calientes. The train ride will be approx. 30 minutes. We arrive in Aguas Calientes where we will spend the night in a hostel. |

| Day 5: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco |

We get up very early in the morning to have breakfast and then take the first bus to the archeological site of Machu Picchu. In the "lost city of the Incas" we will have our guided tour (approx. 2 hours) in which you will visit the most important and interesting places of Machu Picchu. After that you will have free time to explore the complex on your own. After your visit you take the bus back to Aguas Calientes to have lunch and in the afternoon we take the train back to Cusco arriving in the evening (according to availability direct train or train to Ollantaytambo and bus to Cusco). Here we will take you to your hotel.
